Q: What time should we arrive?

A: “Tree Times” are assigned in advance based on availability to ensure an efficient park operation. Guests should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to their reserved time. Arriving after the start of your Tree Time may require it to be re-scheduled.

Q: How much time does it take to do the entire course?

A: It depends on the package or type of day you are reserving. A family group of thrill seekers will choose an adventure that takes 1-2.5 hours and a team building program is reserved in 3 hour or 5.5 time blocks.  Time can be adjusted to fit your group's needs. Many team building groups find that one session of low ropes activities in the morning, followed by one session of high ropes elements in the afternoon makes for a fun, challenging day.

Q: What are the age limits? Are there height requirements?

A: The Character Challenge Course has hosted participants ages 7-77. The low ropes activities work great for elementary school age children to adults. Reflective discussions and debriefing occur and are tailored to meet your group's learning objectives & time considerations. In order to climb independently on the course, participants need to reach 68" with their feet flat on the ground.

Q: How many people can we bring at one time?

A: We have worked with groups as small as 2 and as large as 130. We can accommodate groups larger than 20 by dividing into smaller groups and rotating through multiple stations. Our facilitators are flexible and we will design a program to meet your needs. To accommodate larger groups, a longer session is often needed. We can provide events for very small groups as well. For team building groups, we require a minimum fee of $400  for 1/2 day events and $500 for full day events, so if you have less than 10 people, your costs may go up slightly.

Q: What are weight requirements?

A: Industry standards require a weight limit of 250 pounds but the ability to participate is also dictated by harness size. Participants need to fit into a 44" size waist. Success on the course is also somewhat determined by physical ability and having a moderate amount of upper body strength.

Q: Is the complex safe?

A: Yes. At the Character Challenge Course, safety comes first. Our complex is designed, built, maintained and run by experts. We use state-of-the art safety equipment on all of our course elements. In the Challenge Course, we use a belay device called a Self-Smart Belay. This prevents individuals from being able to disconnect from the course while in the air. This cutting edge technology is not used by any other Minnesota ropes course and only a handful in the country currently use it.

In the high ropes course, the actual risk is very low. It is the perceived risk that provides powerful experiences that can be used to foster personal and team growth. C4 hires a professional vendor each year to inspect all course elements and re-certify all equipment and procedures. We have hosted over 60,000 participants.

Q: What kind of certification do the facilitators have?

A: All facilitators are thoroughly trained in course proficiency, and Sarah Coumbe-Guida and Travis Guida (owners and operators) review risk management and emergency procedures through trainings and documentation annually.

Q: What do we do if we have bad weather?

A: The course operates rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather, (high winds, hail or lightning) that occurs within a close proximity to the course, participants will be exited off the course and brought to shelter. If the weather persists for more than 30 minutes, a pro rated rain check will be issued depending on how much of your tickets were completed. Rain checks do not expire. Reservations are still required and can be made based on availability.

Q: What if I'm afraid of heights?

A: If someone is afraid of heights, simply climbing a foot or two up a tree can be a major accomplishment and source of pride. If a participant chooses not to attempt an event, we respect this decision and offer other ways in which the person can participate including providing support through belaying, coaching or spotting.

Q: How do we make a reservation?

A: Reservations can be made via the the "Book Now" button, where you are also to send an inquiry about a group. The course books well in advance so to ensure availability, contact us soon. You can call or text: 218-760-8442

Q: How much does this cost?

A: We serve 2 types of groups: Team Building & Thrill Seekers. Rates vary. For Team Building, Non Profit group will range between $40-$60/each depending on length of program and group size. Corporate team building rates range from $70-$85/each. Thrill Seeker adventures range from $26.95-$49.95 depending on package selected.

Q: Do you have a conduct policy?

Our park is a family focused adventure and therefore, we do not allow alcoholic beverages, smoking, vaping or any other illegal substances on site. Participants are agreeing to not be under the influence of any substance.  We reserve the right to remove participants from the park for inappropriate language or other types of behavior that could affect safety, or the experience of other guests. Please be respectful and mindful of others while participating in our fun adventure.  These policies are in place to ensure the best possible experience for all of our guests.

Q: What if we need to cancel? Can I get a refund if I don't climb?

A: Tourist groups/thrill seekers are free to cancel anytime prior to 48 hours before their reservation to receive a full refund. Guests wishing to cancel within 48 hours will be eligible to transfer their reservation to another date but are not eligible for a refund. If a participant enters the park but then opts to not climb, they may be eligible for a partial refund. Once climbing has begun, participants forfeit any refund options. Team Building groups are required to provide a non refundable deposit at time of booking. If they cancel, 100% of the  deposit will be transferred to another date.

Q: What should we bring?

A: If bringing a large group, coming prepared to the Character Challenge is key. Click here for our participant information packet (which includes basic information on what to expect as well as the waiver of liability. Please have all your participants fill this out ahead of time).

Q: Is it possible for a person with physical impairments or limitations to participate?

A: With direct assistance it may be possible for some people people with these limitations to complete some aspects of some of the courses. We would require advance notice and a brief interview to determine if it would work out. Give us a call. There may be additional costs involved. If participating in a team building adventure, yes...There are several roles that EVERYONE needs to fill. Just as there are important roles in your team back home.
